Public Transport

How to get around Brno?

Brno is easily walkable, but it also has a convenient and comfortable system of public transport with its trams, city buses, trolley buses and special night buses. The biggest transfer junctions are Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží), Česká and Mendlovo Square (Mendlovo náměstí).

If you have a card on you, you don’t even need a ticket. Thanks to "Beep & Go" service, just tap your card against a yellow validator when boarding a vehicle. If you travel less than 15 minutes, tap again when getting off the vehicle to be charged only for a short-time ticket. If you travel more than 15 minutes, no need to tap again when getting off. Other than with a card, you may buy tickets in vending machines at stops and stations, or buy an SMS ticket. Do not forget to validate your paper ticket in a yellow validator (the very same for Beep & Go) in the vehicle. Get more information at https://www.dpmb.cz/en.

SMS tickets

Send an SMS a few minutes in advance and wait for a message to be received in return. The received message is your valid ticket.

What to do if you meet a ticket inspector

Ticket inspectors in public transport are unrecognizable from regular passengers. During the check, validators make it impossible to purchase a ticket. Inspector approaches passengers showing them their official badge, upon which the passengers must present their tickets – produce you card if you purchased your ticket via "Beep & Go", paper ticket purchased through a vending machine, or text message you received prior to boarding the vehicle.
